Week two as a teacher...

Monday 15th July 2013

I headed to the gym bright and early this morning for my first real session annoyingly though the gym is inside a mall and the mall was closed (makes sense since it was 6am) eventually I found the entrance and wandered inside I smashed it up on the gym floor and then headed for the showers it’s so good having short hair it takes just a few moments to get ready for the day! I headed over to the school about 8.30am and had some breakfast before starting the day I was shadowing another teacher with the lower levels all day which was pretty easy. The last class of the day was the best it was activity so we played boggle and then hangman they all get super competitive it’s funny to watch. After school we swung by a better supermarket and filled up our cupboards with supplies. We got some sushi as a snack which filled me up for hours back at the house I spent some time doing some writing and then yoga

Tuesday 16th July 2013

I was up with the birds again this morning to head to the gym I carved up another good session then headed into school. I team taught one class before one of the teachers went home sick and I had to cover the class on my own for the rest of the day. Luckily I had some things I could do with them and the lessons didn’t entirely suck balls. After school I spent time doing some writing and yoga life sure has changed since the care free India days…

Wednesday 17th July 2013

Routine routine routine I was back in the gym at 6.30am this morning you know the rest. I walked in expecting to be team teaching but we were still a man down and so I had to cover all the classes again today luckily I had planned some classes just in case this happened so I wasn’t left in the lurch. After school we headed across the road to the mall I wanted to get some more kit for the gym. We couldn’t be bothered cooking dinner so ate out but the food was rather disappointing cheap but disappointing. To cheer ourselves up over the waste of calories we went and got a juice. We came home and did some yoga whilst Sidney accompanied us on the piano.

Thursday 18th July 2013

I had a pt. session this morning which shattered me before the day had even really begun! I went to work and yet again another teacher had called in sick which left me to teach the class it was fine though as I knew what they were doing and so just continued on with it.  We played a hilarious game of Chinese whispers, none of the class got the point of the game and were all really upset when the end result was different to the starting sentence I thought it was going to come to blows they were that upset. After school I spent a long time planning some classes for tomorrow and then cooked a huge meal of spaghetti with tuna, then it was time for …you guessed it yoga.

Friday 19th July 2013

I was in the gym super early today to allow myself time to get in a good workout and then print off some worksheets all before class which started at 8.30am as its Friday. Unfortunately I was too organised and got to school before anyone was there to open up which was frustrating. Classes were hard today as everyone was already in weekend mode and not functioning to full capacity. One of the students wrote a story (using adverbs) which finished with the sentence “then I drove quickly to the bitches and dumped the body” after some questioning I realised he meant beach it was rather amusing and he was happy as Larry when I told him bitches was a bad word. As usual after everyone left for Friday prayers I had just one student in my class I started playing hangman with her when I noticed one of the kids leaving he flipped shit when I told him he couldn’t go home yet that it was just the students who were going to prayers. He had a full blown tantrum and sat in the corner for a while before joining in the game (by this time a crowd had gathered to play I’m not really sure why we finish early for prayers when no one actually leaves) after school I had to hang about for an hour to have a meeting with one of the other teachers it didn’t last long and I ended up locked outside the apartment for about 30mins while Ayla was having a meal with some peeps. At least it was sunny and I could sit by the pool. In the evening we decided to head out for some food and to the cinema which was a perfect end to a busy week.

Saturday 20th July 2013

I went into the gym this morning at 8am as we only have one set of keys I had to wait until Ayla was also ready to leave the house as I thought I would be back first. She smashed a jar of pasta sauce all over the floor and there was glass everywhere which held up proceedings eventually we got out the door. At the gym I ran 5km and then hit the showers. I went to the juice bar and slammed down some wheatgrass before heading to the supermarket for cleaning supplies. When I got back I spent the next few hours scrubbing clean both the kitchen and the bathroom making them a little less bio hazardess. In the afternoon once all that fun stuff was out of the way I went and sat by the pool and soaked up some rays I did some lesson plans but mostly I chilled out with some music, swimming each time it got too hot. In the evening we headed to Paradigm mall to meet up with Nicola and her friend Rachel who is also a teacher and is over for a few months we had an amazing seafood dinner followed by some of the biggest pieces of cheesecake I have ever seen. After a brief trip to the phone shop to get Rachel kitted out with a sim (me and Ayla took photos of ourselves and left them on the displays of all the tablets in store) and a wee visit to the pet shop where we held a sugar glider, we somehow ended up in the car heading to a bar. Next thing you know its 3am and we are all sideways and heading back for “noodles at Nicolas! “We ended up kipping there and not actually making it home until halfway through the following day.

Sunday 21st July 2013

So today was spent doing not a lot other than being horizontal by the pool around 7pm we came to enough to head out for some food. We drove into KL and got some sweet Thai noodles and spring rolls and some ginormous ice-creams. (I even sampled the purple rain) that concludes this day and this week oh how exciting the life of a teacher is…
